Compass

Supporting Black-owned businesses with free outdoor advertising

Run in collaboration with Jamii, a discovery platform for Black British brands, Compass is Clear Channel's long-term initiative that offers free outdoor advertising space to help independent Black-owned businesses to grow.

This year, the initiative is expanding its impact with a £250,000 prize pot and will provide five winners with national digital Out of Home advertising campaigns worth £50,000 each to help scale their businesses and increase their brand visibility.

We are inviting more established businesses looking to scale up to apply. Businesses must have a national presence, whether through e-commerce or retail partnerships.

Winning campaigns will run across Clear Channel’s digital Out of Home screens, for two weeks each from August 2025 onwards. Clear Channel will also offer free design support to help create the advertisements while any selected e-commerce brands will also be listed on Jamii’s marketplace. .

05  Frequently asked questions

What is OOH advertising useful for?

Out of Home (OOH) advertising is an effective marketing channel for brand building with its ability to deliver broadcast reach while complementing other advertising channels. SME’s and scale-ups can benefit from Clear Channel’s national footprint that can help make brands famous at a national level, locally or regionally. Moreover, OOH’s physical presence on high streets and in communities enables brands to build visibility and trust in ways that other media channels can’t.

Can I apply if my business sells alcohol, HFSS (high in fat, salt and sugar) products, underwear or other products where advertising restrictions may apply?

Yes, you can apply for the scheme if your business sells legal products. If your company wins and operates within such categories, we will advise you on any potential restrictions in terms of where the campaign could be displayed and provide further guidance on poster design to ensure compliance.

What design support will be available to winners?

Clear Channel’s in-house design team will be able to help create one poster design on a pro bono basis. Winners will be asked to choose from a selection of templates and supply relevant assets e.g. logo, images, short text etc. Note that the poster templates are not customisable.

We can recommend external designers for creating bespoke poster artworks, with any applicable fees to be covered by the winner.
